Yeovil Stompers

For those who love to line dance!

Leanne's Blog - OK, so it was just a knee op, but it was a big thing to me.

This is my blog, recording my road to recovery.

I don't know if anyone will bother reading this but it really is quite theraputic writing it!

Friday 26th

I thought the blog was finished but Sue & Tony have just called round with a card from the Monday classes.  You are all very naughty!  Thank you so very much - I will enjoy treating myself.  I hope you are all looking forward to line dancing next week - I can't wait.  The only thing that might stop us is SNOW!  If any classes are cancelled, there will be a message on the home page of this website.

Thursday 25th

One month until Christmas!

I was back at line dancing last night and it was brill.  I love the people, the music, the enthusiasm, gosh I could go on and on.  I also love Rock around the clock that Norma taught - a fab little dance that will look good at the Christmas social night.

Thank you so much for the card and money - you are all very naughty!  My card is on display next to my colour changing fruit bowl. I was obviously looking a little watery eyed as I showed my husband the card as he said that he thinks I am emotionaly disturbed!

I think I am going to keep hold of the money for when I see a pair of dancing shoes that I 'must' have - then you'll all be able to admire my purchase! lol

I'm off to coach gymnastics now and I only hope they don't want a demonstration - it could get messy!

Thank you for reading my blog.  I'm now signing off. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee xxx

Tuesday 23rd

Oh, I'm on a roll!  I think the excitement of returning to line dancing is effecting me!  I have booked some socials for next year and have some themes. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! Click here - go on, you know you want to!

Monday 22nd

Had a great weekend - watched Holly perform at the Octagon on Saturday (and found it all very emotional!) and then went to visit my nephews on Sunday.  They were celebrating their birthdays - 5 and 7 - can't believe where the time is going!

In between being active, I have made a conscious effort to rest my knee. I'm sure that I'm walking OK and I keep walking through the Wednesday night dances and seem to be fine - so I'M BACK ON WEDNESDAY! I'm really looking forward to it.  It's fair to say that I've been going a little bit mental on Monday and Wednesday evenings!  Thanks to everyone for the emails/cards etc and a very special thankyou to Norma for keeping the classes going. I am gettng so excited - the chrismas tree is going up on Sunday.  YEE-HA!

Friday 19th

Oh dear, I've let my blog responsibilities slip!  I have had a fab week.  I started swimming on Tuesday, and it as made a huge difference to my mobility :) I am now completely pain free and I think that as of this morning, am walking normally.  My knee at times feels a little unstable but apparently this is complteely normal and by doing my exercises, I will be strengthening the muscles around the knee which will help increase its stability.  I am returning to teaching on Wednesday 24th November - whoop whoop! I can't wait to see you all x

Sunday 14th

Up bright and early to take the girls to swimming club.  They train at Sherborne at 8am.  Mark drove as my leg felt quite stiff.  This afternoon, Mark took me over to Clarks village - had a little wander (hobble!) round.  I fell in love with a gorgeous jewellery box in Past Times.  I kept hinting to Mark but feel quite confident that Father Christmas might have to bring it to me.  It's always an eye opener on Christmas mornng when Mark see's how many presents the man in the red suit has left for me.  He must be the only 34 year old who still believes!

I popped out to pick up Holly from the octagon theatre.  Holly is performing in the show 'It's a small world'.  She's been practising for months, and this week she'll finally get to perform to a real audience  She is soooooooooooooo excited, it's lovely.  I'm watching the final show on Saturday evening and I can't wait.

Tonight I've had a bath, and performed lots of leg stretching exercises. Think I might have to repeat this again tomorrow.

Norma will definitely be teaching this week.  I've had lots of positive feedback about last week and am sure that Norma is looking forward to it :)

Saturday 13th

First go at driving today.  I drove out to Currys (yes, more Christmas shopping!) and it went fine.  Didn't feel any pullng at all. Decided to phone the Octagon theate to see if they had any tickets left for 'Tell me on a Sunday'.  Had plenty left, and some were in the front row so I wouldn't have to navigate the stairs - lucky me :) The show starred Claire Sweeney and it was very good but was glad to get into bed.

Friday 12th November

I've had a great day today - had my stitches out (all healed well) and I am now allowed to drive - yippee.  Have done quite a bit of walking today so knee is feeling a bit sore.  Went to Tesco to do the shopping and bumped into Alan - a pair of invalids together!  Having a family games night tonight - the girls love this - we all choose a game for us all to play. As the girls are getting older, the games are definitely getting better.  I saw a game called Loopz today which looks great fun.  Might have to add it to the Christmas wish list :)

Thursday 11th November

After writing yesterdays blog, things went downhill fast!  First I fell over and hurt my knee and ankle and then my laptop broke :(  Today Darling Daughter No. 1 was home from school feeling poorly so we've been sofa buddies all day.  I think it was all getting to me though as I sat watching This Morning, we had the 2 minute silence followed by a song sung by some war veterans - and I was blubbing away!   It didn't help when Poppy asked me if any of my friends died in the 2nd world war!  Wrinkle cream will be going on my Christmas wish list!

Anyway, on a posive note I've had good feedback about line dancing last night and I have a new favourite television program - Midsomer Murders.  It's on ITV at 4pm.  I shall definitely be putting it on series link when I'm back at work!

Wednesday 10th November

Today is Roman Day! Yes, darling daughter number two had to go to school dressed as a roman.  I think she looked rather good - she's not so sure!  My dad took the girls to school today - it's all good practice for when he retires in April!

I've been going through all my Christmas shopping and I think I'd forgotten how much I've bought!  I'm now under pressure to hide it all before hubby comes home from work!  Or I face the prospect of a lecture about us all having too much these days and that I might possibly be affected by OCD!

The new linedancer magazine came in the post today.  I'm going to be having a look at some of the dances online.  I like to watch a dance before deciding whether to teach it.  Years ago we never had the chance, so it's a great help. There's a blast from the past - and it's to Christmas music! Yippee - Santa is on his way :)

Just had a couple of visitors.  Lovely to see them.  They were on their way to Norma's line dance class - I wish I was going :(    I enjoy being active but it's not just that, it's the social side and the music.  I think that moving to music is great for your mental health.

I've got 60 minute makeover on the tele - it's giving me inspiration - I've plugged in my light up twigs and my colour changing fruit bowl. Mmmmmmmm........don't think I need the 60 minute makeover team to visit me after all!

Oh it's no good - I can't resist temptation any longer! My guests gave me a cake and it's so moorish, lovely and moist. I think I'm going to have to ration it otherwise it won't last long!

It's going to be so strange, staying home tonight, knowing that my classes are going on without me :(

I'm hoping that Edge of Desire goes well x

Tuesday 9th November

Had a lovely shower -  was able to put quite a bit of weight on the leg.  Decided not to watch any more of that daytime tele rubbish.  Have spent the morning updating my different websites.  Am now thinking that we must decorate the living room some time soon.....................

My friend Nicky called into see me this afternoon - she always makes me laugh!  I work with Nicky on Monday's and Thursday's and I think she's missing me!

I'v received some get well cards and gifts - so a BIG THANKYOU to you all.  I received an animated online card which was fab.  My 2 girlies keep watching it!

My hubby came home from work very excited - I thought that maybe he was looking forward to seeing me, but no, his new game had arrived for the xbox.  Men and their toys.................

My fried Lisa took me to the cinema tonight to watch 'Due Date' -it was a good film and I managed to keep my leg up.  It was good to have a laugh. Had a quick stop off at Tesco afterwards so I could get some butter.  Have decided to make a few batches of cupcakes with my super duper cup cake machine. God, they taste good - how long will 24 cakes last in this house?

Monday 8th November

I spent today at home trying to relax!  Watched This Morning and Loose Women and did some internet Christmas shopping.  I'm an avid fan of Martin Lewis so enjoyed spending some time trawling through his website.

Norma came to visit and we had a natter.  It was lovely to have some company.

I decided the kitchen needed a good clear out and I'm very lucky that my youngest daughter loves cleaning!  Holly emptied every cupboard, cleaned it out and put back in the items I decided to keep.  Now have a large box for the charity shop - Mark will be so happy that I have another job for him to do!

Tonight was definitely the weirdest feeling ever, knowing that I should have been at dancing. Unfortunately I'm feeling a little down.

Sunday 7th November

I've had a really good day today.  My friend Nicky took me East Coker Craft Fayre.  It was lovely to get out and have some fresh air.  It was nice to get back home and relax again though - can't believe how tired I am feeling.

Had a quick look at Linedancer website and see that The Pulse has gone into the charts - really pleased as I really like that dance :)

Saturday 6th November

I spent the day relaxing, doing my excercises, writing Christmas cards and planning how I'm going to spend the next few weeks!  Mum and Dad came to see me with a big tin of Roses - mmmmmmmmmmmmm - they won't last long!

Friday 5th November

Op went well.  Dr Roache is pleased and I leave hospital with just a stick.

Monday 1st November

I am dreading my knee op on Friday.  I have days when my knee doesn't cause many problems but just lately it has been getting much worse.  I'm hoping that the knee op will do the trick.  I'm quite an active person, and am not sure how I'm going to cope without the line dancing..............
